JULIA $625. delivered The best way to describe this wheel is a Victoria version of the S51DT. Bobbins, flyer and the Scotch tension are the same as on the Victoria. There are four ratios, which are: 1:6, 1:8.5, 1:12.5, 1:19. An optional high speed set, which is also the same set as the Victoria uses, provides an extra 1:27 ratio and make it easier to treadle the 1:19 on the Julia. See High Speed Kit info under Victoria. A removable insert provides two orifice sizes (12mm and 8mm). Orifice height 27.5" Drive wheel diameter 19.5" All rotating parts run on ball bearings for smooth operation, while the unit itself is constructed out of beech and birch plywood, smoothly lacquered. Wheels are made of laminated hardwood with a "birch" exterior finish. The base with treadles can be easily disassembled from the upright with the main wheel (unit does not fold) for easy transportation. The optional stand-alone Lazy Kate comes with an adjustable brake for the three bobbins it holds.

This wheel comes finished, is available in either Beech or Oak, and is entirely portable! Folded, the Victoria measures 22 x 14.5 x 5.5 inches and weighs only 6.5lbs. The Victoria fits precisely in the bag that is included. This bag can be carried as a hand bag, a shoulder bag or a back pack. It contains a lazy kate with two extra bobbins. The image is of the beech set, but in the oak set the flyer disc and the hook handle are oak. The orifice is 5 mm, but you can take out the inserts and have an 8 or 12 mm orifice. S10 - The wheel that made Louet famous

Louet, oh Louet! My first spinning wheel, an old S10 made of oak, is a permanent part of our family. This little workhorse spends much of her time in the homes of new spinners, helping them master the art with minimum stress. The ease of tensioning and firm takeup of the original-style Louet wheels is very much a plus for the beginning spinner.

It used to be that a Louet was a Louet, and the only decision you needed to make was what you wanted your Louet to look like. Not anymore!

The Louet wheels were originally geared towards spinning medium to heavy yarns. Although bobbins and flyers are available for spinning this type of yarn (see spinning accessories: bulky flyer), the standard wheel has been redesigned to be more suitable for spinning fine to medium yarns. The orifice and bobbins on the standard wheels are large enough to allow you to create novelty yarns. All wheels come with three bobbins and a two-bobbin lazy kate.

Technically all the models are the same. Each wheel has a single belt bobbin drive with an adjustable flyer brake to regulate the yarn takeup. The flexible belts are made of polyurethane and require no adjustments. Maintenance-free ball bearings in the main hub and at the footman connection require no lubrication and provide easy, smooth treadling.

Assembly of a Louet takes about five minutes, and the wheel can be taken apart again if you want to box it to take it on a trip. The S45 is shipped assembled. Wheels are crafted in beech and birch, and come either unfinished or with a durable lacquer finish.
